Each skin tone can be adjusted on a color slider as well, letting players find the perfect match for their vision. There are 4 color categories: warm, neutral, cool, and miscellaneous. It became apparent that some players, especially BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) couldn’t accurately depict what they, and others like them, look like in The Sims 4 because the dark skin tones were, put delicately, cosmetically displeasing.Īfter a rallying of online support and Simmer Xmiramira calling attention to the lack of quality dark skin tones in-game on The Sims Spark’d, The Sims Team decided to overhaul its skin tone system. The premise of the games has always been to “play with life,” but as time passed, some players found their gaming experience lacking. I think it had something to do with how I created them, but that’s aside the point, I could’ve left it alone, like its no big deal, but me being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted to fix them, and I actually quite enjoyed it! The skins are now very smooth and blend seamlessly with overlays and default replacement skins. But the normal tones, the warms and cools, had pixelated textures in some areas and weren’t very smoothly blending in others. Only the normal ones though, the fantasy ones are still fine (you can find them in my original Maxis Match Skintones post). Hey everyone! I have been noticing in CAS that my old Maxis Match Skintones had… kind of bad textures.
